Sepio Systems Solution to Prevent ATM Jackpotting Attacks

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

GAITHERSBURG, MARYLAND – February 13, 2018“Sepio’s software suite can prevent the recent ATM Jackpotting attacks,” said Robert Bigman, a senior advisor to Sepio and the former Chief Information Security Officer for the Central Intelligence Agency. “The recent attacks are a painful demonstration of the ease of executing cyber-attack after gaining physical access to IT equipment. The current approach to ATM security is insufficient. Integrating cyber-physical security components is a necessity," added Mr. Bigman.

ATM Jackpotting attacks have been around for a while, mostly in South America and Africa. Recent developments and warnings coming from the U.S Secret Service confirm that this type of cyber-crime is now widely happening in the US as well.

The described attack goes through the process of infecting the ATM with the Ploutus.D malware, and then maintaining remote access capabilities to trigger the cash spitting. All Jackpotting attacks, require physical access to the ATM to connect USB device. Keyboard emulator, detachable media and wireless interface are used for infecting the machine.

“Sepio’s software suite prevent these attacks by blocking any malicious hardware from being connected. Our solution alerts when a new device is connected before the attack starts,” said Greg Poch, Sepio Systems Vice President of Sales. “Our clients find our solution effective and easy to maintain,” added Mr. Poch.

Sepio Systems Sponsors Cyber Intelligence Asia 2018 on March 20-22, 2018 in Singapore

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

GAITHERSBURG, MARYLAND – January 4, 2018 – Sepio Systems, a leader and pioneer in securing organizations against attacks via rogue hardware devices, will be presenting at the 2018 Cyber Intelligence Asia conference in Singapore.

Cybercrimes in Asia are on an increase with many banks, utilities, law firms and governments being targeted. Singapore is a region hub for the financial industry and for banks, investment firms, and insurance companies protecting their infrastructure is a key to business resilience.
Cybercrimes and sophisticated attacks are becoming an everyday occurrence forcing governments and utilities to make sure their cyber defense systems are top priority.

“During the past 18 months, we are seeing that the use of manipulated hardware by internal abusers has become a very compelling option for stealing sensitive information without being detected.”, said Bentsi Ben Atar, the CMO and Co-Founder for Sepio Systems. “Internet connectivity is heavily monitored by enterprises and many of the attempts to simply email or upload the stolen data is caught. The use of manipulated hardware that can be easily and very affordably purchased online provides a complete invisible channel for safely taking the information out.”

In THE USE OF MANIPULATED HARDWARE BY INTERNAL ABUSERS workshop, Mr. Ben Atar will describe real incidents and will demonstrate common attack flows and scenarios. The session will provide best practice recommendations and a brief of available tools to secure organizations both against data leakage as well and infection campaigns – both of insiders as well as threat agents and organized cybercrime groups.

About Sepio Systems

Sepio Systems is a pioneer in securing organizations against attacks via rogue hardware devices. Strategic cyber weapon technology that has been leaked is currently in the hands of criminal organizations that are using it against civilian commercial targets with no defenses against it. These enterprises never suspect that the seemingly legitimate devices they are using have been compromised, allowing access to key assets—often over long periods of time. Sepio Systems Implements Data Security Overhauls In Top Financial Institutions

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

NORTH BETHESDA, MARYLAND – October 17, 2017

Today Sepio Systems, a pioneer in securing organizations against cyber attacks via rogue hardware devices, announced partnerships with two major global banking institutions in the United Kingdom and South Africa to implement a comprehensive overhaul of their data security solutions.

Due to security protocols the two international financial institutions, requesting anonymity, will implement Sepio Systems' hardware security solutions across their IT infrastructures to identify and remove camouflaged nefarious technologies in their respective data systems.

"We are honored to be working with these major banks to help improve their data security," said Iftah Bratspiess, CEO of Sepio Systems. "By proactively addressing the potential damage that can come from these threats, both are staying ahead of bad actors before they can gain access to sensitive data."

The Sepio Systems' security site mitigates risk of cybersecurity events in large data systems by restricting the outward data flow of sensitive financial and personal data through rogue hardware deployed directly into the infrastructure. Implementing one-way data flow restricts access from rogue end-user devices such as a manipulated mouse or keyboard that attempts to covertly access and extract information.

Sepio Systems is Presenting at the ATM & Payments Security Conference on September 19, 2017 in London

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

NORTH BETHESDA, MARYLAND – September 8, 2017 – Sepio Systems, a leader and pioneer in securing organizations against attacks via rogue hardware devices, will be presenting at the 2017 ATM & Payments Security conference.

ATMIA, a global leader in supplying ATM security best practice since 2003, presents a must-attend annual industry security summit for the ATM and payments industries. The association’s 17th consecutive annual event will be covering comprehensive security aspects of ATMs and payments, from preventing physical and logical attacks, data compromises and card skimming to interworking with law enforcement in a range of countries.

In the WHEN YOUR “BACK DOOR” BECOMES THE HACKER’S FRONT DOOR presentation, Bentsi Ben Atar, the CMO and Co-Founder for Sepio Systems will give examples of recent cyber and logical attack methods that are based on hardware device manipulation.
The session will include briefs and demonstrations of actual attack scenarios and flows and will include best practice mitigation guide and related counter measures and products.

“As it is becoming more and more difficult for cyber criminals to get a foothold into the ATM data and control networks, their obvious next step is to implant manipulated and rouge hardware devices.”, said Mr. Ben Atar. “The existence and deployment of those easy to obtain tools, gives threat actors permanent out-of-band access both for infecting the network and devices as well as exfiltrating sensitive information in a completely invisible way.”

Former Israeli Mossad Director Tamir Pardo Named Sepio System’s Board Chairman

Sepio Systems to Introduce Supply Chain Security Suite on February 13 at San Francisco’s RSA Conference

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

North Bethesda, MD, February 13, 2017—Tamir Pardo will join Sepio Systems to serve as chairman of the board as part of the company’s expansion.

“Cyber attacks on critical infrastructure and financial institutions are a major threat to the global economy,” notes Mr. Pardo. “Most cyber security products protect the internet, applications, and data—Sepio’s security suite addresses an attack vector underserved by current market solutions. I look forward to addressing these challenges as Sepio’s leader.”

Mr. Pardo began his military service at age 18 with the Israeli Special Forces where he served as an officer. He joined the Mossad in 1980, and served in field and technical positions until he rose to become Director of Operations and Technology. In January 2011, Mr. Pardo was appointed by the Israeli Prime Minister to lead the Mossad, serving as Director. He proudly served in this role until January 2016. Under Mr. Pardo’s command, the Mossad received numerous prestigious decorations for operations and technological innovations.

“We are proud to have Mr. Pardo on our team and confident that his experience, vision and leadership will impact results,” notes Yossi Appleboum, Co-CEO of Sepio Systems.

Sepio Systems, a cyber security company protecting organizations against device supply chain attacks, will introduce its Supply Chain Security Suite at San Francisco’s RSA Conference on February 13. The platform combines hardware and software to stop rogue hardware before it damages normal operations of an organization. It isolates and contains potential attacks without degrading system performance.

“Penetrating supply chains—once done only by governments—has become a common attack vector of criminal organizations,” notes Mr. Appleboum. “Sepio’s suite secures organizations against supply chain attacks. Our product closes the supply chain’s ‘open door’; voiding supply chain attacks.”

Several financial institutions and corporations are evaluating the suite. The company expects to begin fulfilling orders during the second quarter of 2017.
